Unreal Tournament (UT) has an excellent
single player mode which will get you warmed up nicely
for online play. It also offers more playing modes than
other games, and this ensures you'll enjoy playing
Unreal Tournament for a long time...
There are six playing modes in Unreal
Tournament:
- Deathmatch (DM): This mode pits you, a
player against up to 15 others in a battle to gain the
most frags after the timelimit is hit.
- Team Deathmatch (TDM): The goal is the same
for 'free for all', but this time the players are
split into two teams, and only the overall team score
will decide the victor, and of course the loser.
- Capture The Flag (CTF): Two teams. One red,
the other blue, each with the goal of capturing the
other teams flag. This is done by taking the other
teams flag and returning it back to your base where
upon touching it with yours, points are rewarded. Of
course the other team is trying to do exactly the
same! CTF games can be fast and furious with each team
desperately trying to hold on to their own flag.
- Domination (DOM): Made up of 2 - 3 teams,
and sometimes even 4, Domination requires a team to
take control of 3 control points on a map. The longer
the point is held the more points the team gets. With
2 teams fighting to hold onto 3 control points the
game soon turns into pure mayhem as both teams
desperately try and hold on to score enough points to
hit the target amount and win.
- Assault (A): Each map has a specific
objective to achieve, this might be pressing a button
or destroying a particular item. The attacking side
has a set amount of time to achieve the objective
whilst the defending team does whatever they can to
stop them. If the attacking team achieves the
objective(s) then the teams swap around and it is then
up to the other side to achieve the objective in a
quicker time to win the game.
- Instagib: A game of deathmatch with a
difference. Each player has one weapon the shock rifle
where one hit kills. You are sure to be on edge at all
times when playing Instagib.
