writing - Articles
my content work

I enjoy writing and over the
years I have produced easy to
read articles, manuals and
guides on a wide range of
subjects.
My writing style is tailored
to the Internet and the subject
matter I am writing about,
allowing my work to be accessed
by a wide range of reading ages.
Along with my online work, I have had articles/letters
printed in my local papers
(Western Morning News and
Evening Herald), in magazines
like PCFormat, and .Net
Magazine.
recent content
After a few years gap I
started to write again for various
websites and since 2009 have been
going on strong :).
previous articles - samples
These
articles/columns were written
while I was employed by BarrysWorld
Ltd. I have been writing columns
since early 1998, mostly based
on a gaming related theme, but
also covering a wide range of
issues depending on what was a
hot topic at the time.
My column became regularly linked
around the gaming news sites. The
links below are for local copies
of the pages I created. None of
the links will work on the pages
themselves, but you can see the
layout, menus, graphics and
content I created for each page.

October 23, 2001
This column helped excite the public

Friday, July 27, 2001
After Prince Charles' comments
claiming ..."the greatest battle today
is getting children off computers
and into something worthwhile like
reading books..." and continued

balance out the views.

How would you explain it? -

gamers get I asked the question,
"how would you explain gaming to a
non-gamer" and explored the many
scenarios associated with the
question.

Shogun Community - Monday, January 8, 2001
I found it strange the "Shogun:Total
War" community was small compared to
other popular games. This update was aimed
at
introducing new gamers to Shogun,
and included an interview with a top
Shogun player. The questions asked
of him were aimed at wetting the
appetite of the reader and getting them
interested in the game.

Tactics & Strategy - Tuesday, August 22, 2000
One of my most popular columns. This

strategy used in the real world are
quickly being incorporated into the
latest games. After researching I

game experiences, which proved a hit
with readers.

The last straw - Thursday, July 20, 2000
After a company released new
graphics drivers that enabled users
to see through walls, amongst other
things, the online gaming community
(having to already deal with game
specific cheats) where in uproar.
Being a strong anti-cheater myself I
looked into it and produced this
column on my findings. The column
was linked around the world so that
gamers could learn about these
drivers.

Is Quake Dead? - Wednesday, May 31, 2000
This update was in light of the new
wave of team games appearing on the
scene. For years gamers have mostly
played alone as a single player, yet
games are slowing moving towards
team play. This update caused a stir
amongst the quake gaming community,
and sparked a debate as to the
future of Quake.
